Go speed dating

If you're single (or even if you're not... but probably best to pretend that you are) and want a fast way to meet lots of new and hopefully interesting people, take part in a speed dating event.
Events are usually organised all over the country and there's plenty of information on the web about ones in your area. There's usually a small fee to take part but Speed Dating is ideal if you lead a busy life or don't have much time and want to meet new people in a fun, safe environment.
Try-outs near you
There are no upcoming public try-outs. You can arrange to try this idea with your friends, or people in your area.

Also, if there's nothing happening near you (or you don't want to pay), why not try to organise one yourself?
Most venues are happy to host you (for free) if you can bring people along, so why not arrange a date and venue, then use online services (such as Upcoming, Eventful, Facebook... and Smynx!) to advertise the event and invite people along.
